Case Study
Semillero platform
The Challenge: This was not just about building another job board. The cooperative ecosystem in Argentina lacked a digital space aligned with its core values of solidarity, equity, and collective ownership.
Our challenge was to design from scratch a politically-aware digital tool that makes cooperativism a visible, preferred career path for diverse communities.
My Role: Product Designer (UX/UI & Product Strategy). Co-led user research, feature design, and user flows, working hand-in-hand with the Django dev team to ensure technical feasibility from the start.
Extended Team:
As part of the design duo, I worked within a distributed team of 6+ developers and a PM, coordinating with 10 people total across the FACTTIC network.
Creative Process
This project was a ground-up product initiative. FACTTIC and INAES sought to create a new digital tool to strengthen the cooperative job ecosystem. Our cooperative (ALT) was brought in to lead the product design, transforming this vision into a viable, inclusive platform built from scratch.
This project followed a participatory and gender-inclusive design approach:
Discovery & Research:
Conducted interviews and gender-perspective research to map the cooperative job landscape. Held alignment workshops with multiple cooperatives to define shared principles and technical constraints.
Design & Prototyping
Created user flows and wireframes, evolving into a high-fidelity prototype in Figma. All design decisions were validated for inclusivity and developed in tandem with the Django team to ensure technical feasibility.
Structure & Scoping
Synthesized research into core user journeys and personas. Defined and prioritized MVP features in close collaboration with the inter-cooperative team and stakeholders.
Validation & Implementation:
Conducted usability tests on key flows (profile creation, job application). Supported the development phase with continuous syncs and detailed handoff to ensure faithful build-out.
Product Features
The platform connects cooperatives and job seekers through:
Inclusive Profile & Job Management
Personalized, Value-Driven Job Matching
Gender-Perspective & Safety-First Design
Built for Cooperative Ecosystem Scale
CORE CONTRIBUTIONS
Product Strategy from a Blank Slate
Led the foundational product definition for a first-of-its-kind platform. Translated the political vision of “cooperativism as a career” into a viable MVP scope through participatory workshops and ecosystem research.
Gender-Inclusive Research
& User Flows
Spearheaded gender-perspective research to identify barriers in tech hiring. Designed the platform’s core flows—from profile creation to application—to be safe, inclusive, and representative of diverse identities.
Technical Co-Design with Development
Architected UX/UI solutions in constant dialogue with the Django development team. This close collaboration ensured every design decision was technically feasible from the start, enabling smooth implementation across a distributed, inter-cooperative team.
Traditional job platforms are built on competition and extraction, leaving no space for solidarity, diversity, or collective ownership. The cooperative ecosystem needed more than a job board—it needed a digital home to nurture a new way of working.
Our mission: design that home.
The Insight That Changed Everything
Our gender-perspective research revealed a critical gap: the fear of discrimination was a major barrier for diverse talent entering the cooperative tech space. A platform built only for functionality would fail its social mission.
Our pivotal realization: safety is a feature. We pivoted from building a passive listing to designing an active, inclusive ecosystem, focusing on three key changes:
